Below are the transcribed contents of my daily diary entries from 1/17/1954 to 9/8/1955, with several gaps where I did not write anything. I find it fascinating to read – but perhaps it's because I wrote it!

1/17/54	Sunday – Made an ice skating rink over to Dorothea’s [neighbor].  Played ping-pong – won all but one game.
1/18/54	Monday – Bill wasn’t in school today, but Bob got an A in History while I got a C.  Mom & Dad went to Auburn [Michigan].
1/19/54	Tuesday – Had a Science Down in Science.  Had Mr. Howard for a teacher and got an A.  Was 2nd best in class.  Bill wasn’t there.
1/20/54	Wednesday – Stayed overnight at Mary’s house.  Went to the movie Easy to Love.  Learned Tango in gym.
1/21/54	Thursday – Went to Assembly about ping pong.  Bill came to school today.  I got A- in English test.
1/22/54	Friday – Had Pep Assembly.  Got B+ in Arith.  Got hit on the head with an apple on the bus.
1/23/54	Saturday – Had to work most of the day.  Dorothea & Bonnie [neighbors] came over in the afternoon.  Uncle Albert came over for a while.
1/24/54	Sunday – Carolyn [cousin] came over.  Saw some good tel.
1/25/54	Monday – Studied for exams.  Has a test in History on Junior Review.
1/26/54	Tuesday – Fell and skinned my arm pretty bad.  Carolyn [cousin] came over 3:00.
1/27/54	Wednesday – Had an Exam in Science.  Went to movie Quo Vadis.  Bobby Newman [neighbor] died.  Was hit by a car.
1/28/54	Thur. – I had an exam in History and got an A- in it.  Bill and I studied for it.  I went to see Bobby Newman.
1/29/54	Friday – I had an exam in English (A) and Arithmetic (B).  I went to Bobby Newman’s funeral.
1/30/54	Saturday – I watched television quite a lot.  Did a little work around the house.
1/31/54	Sunday – I got some skates from Daddy.  I went to Dorothea’s [neighbor] Sleigh party and had lots of fun.
2/1/54	Monday – Today was the beginning of a new semester.  We received report cards.  I sit by Bruce in Math.
2/2/54	Tues. – Had fun in Science.  We just played all hour.  Nothing much else happened.
2/3/54	Wednesday – Worked on dress for 4-H.  Joan Lovell took two pictures of me in Science class.
2/4/54	Thursday –  I sit next to Jolly Powers in Science.  Got an A- in Arithmetic so far.
2/5/54	Friday – Had a 4-H meeting over to Dot [Dorothea, neighbor].  Had fun walking there.
2/6/54	Saturday – Went to Cedar and then ice skating.  Played over to Carolyn’s [cousin] for a while.
2/7/54	Sunday – Don Kroupa [relative] came out for supper.  Uncle John came out for the evening.
2/8/54	Monday – Had some fun in school.  Didn’t do anything in Glee Club but talk.
2/9/54	Tuesday – Had an extra lot of homework to do.  Got a sharp pain in my side and fell sick.
2/10/54	Wednesday – Stayed home because I was sick.  Got caught up on all my homework.
2/11/54	Thursday – Went back to school today.  I sit by Jolly Powers in Science.
2/14/54	Sunday – Had a Science test today - B+.  I have not spoken to Dennis all year yet.  Valentine’s Day.
2/15/54	Monday – Had a lot of laughs in English.  Had a lot of work to do in History.
2/16/54	Tuesday – ***** got mad at me in Arithmetic for asking him a question.  Jim Rhoads sprang his thumb.
2/17/54	Wednesday – I found a letter of Carolyn Hamilton in English [class].  It was in French.  Had a science down.
2/18/54	Thursday – Translated Carolyn Hamilton’s letter.  It wasn’t very interesting.
2/19/54	Friday – I wore nylons to school today.  Had pictures taken for Glee Club.
2/20/54	Saturday – I played out in the barn.  We made some houses & swings.
2/21/54	Sunday – I sacked grain with Gary & Dad.  We played in the barn and on the swings.
2/22/54	Monday – In Science, Kirt ************.  I think he is nice.
2/23/54	Tuesday – I went to the noon movies and bought a bag of shoe-string potatoes.
2/24/54	Wednesday – It was Gary’s [#2] birthday today.  I got him two packs of bibis.  Julius’s [uncle] came over.
2/25/54	Thursday - I got two A’s in 2 tests I took today.  Had fun kidding Ronnie Morell.
2/26/54	Friday – Becky Robson and I told each other’s boyfriend.  Kirt spoke to me for the first time.  I think he is nice!!  4-H tonight.
2/27/54	Saturday – I went over to Julius’s [uncle] for an hour.  We went to the twins birthday party and had fun.
2/28/54	Sunday – Carolyn [cousin] came over to our place and we cut out our slips.  Julius’s [uncle] came over to watch television till 10:00.
3/1/54	Monday – I think Kirt might like me a little.  I can tell by the way he looks at me in class.  I am beginning to think that maybe Kirt likes me.  I ate with Carol and he always sits at the table across me.
3/2/54	Tuesday – I think that today wasn’t very good.  Nothing has happened much.  I have not yet **********
3/3/54	Wednesday – We saw a movie today in History.  Kirt has 7th hour history, 5th hr. lunch, and 2nd hr. Science.
3/4/54	Thursday - I splattered my milk bottle all over the hall today.  Did the kids laugh in study hall when I came in.  Ha Ha
3/5/54	Friday – I smiled at Kirt in the halls today and he smiled back.  **********
3/6/54	Saturday – I went over to Julius’s [uncle] place today.  Jim [neighbor] took my hat away and was wearing it, so I didn’t have any.
3/7/54	Sunday – Dot [Dorothea, neighbor] and Bonnie [neighbor] came over PM.  Grandma & Grandpa stayed for supper and watched television.
3/8/54	Monday – I am losing hope very rapidly.  I guess I was a fool for even thinking he liked me.
3/9/54	Tuesday – I got out of school this afternoon and went to “The Sea Around Us” movie.  Kirt sat a little ways from me but.
3/10/54	Wednesday – I know for sure Kirt doesn’t like me – *************   I got B on a test in Arith. and A in English.
3/11/54	Thursday - I had a little fun today but it was not the same as when Kirt was around.  I do like him even though.
3/12/54	Friday – My name was drawn to make up the Science test.  That look Kirt gave me.  Fortune said he didn’t like me.
3/13/54	Saturday – I had to shovel snow this morning.  All night almost I thought about Kirt.  Tom [Dad’s friend] and Uncle Robert’s came out.
3/14/54	Sunday – I got out and shoveled snow this morning.  Was a little mad today.  Did a little homework also.
3/15/54	Monday – I am always hoping and might never lose hope but.  Got A in History.  Had fun on the bus.
3/16/54	Tuesday – The boys were taking things of mine all the time.  I wish I knew Kirt better.  I will call him up sometime. Ha Ha.  Leone’s [#7] birthday - had a party.
3/17/54	Wednesday – We had an Assembly first hour.  I have had ***************
3/18/54	Thursday - Mr. Thompson looked at the Science test today.  I know that KIRT doesn’t like me because I saw him with Sharon Carpenter.
3/19/54	Friday – Mom had a baby boy at 2:00 A.M. [Walter, #9].  I gave the Science test to the class today.  Had quite a lot of fun.
3/20/54	Saturday – I have quite a lot of work to do now that Mom is in the hospital.  She had to have an operation.
3/21/54	Sunday – I saw the baby (Walter #9) at the hospital, but I couldn’t see mom.  Gary [#2] and I almost got lost in the hospital trying to get out.
3/22/54	Monday – I corrected Science papers today.  I had a lot of work to do when I got home tonight.
3/23/54	Tuesday – The Boys Glee Club sang in assembly 2nd hour.  I would have to miss Science!  I didn’t see Kirt at all today. – ??
3/24/54	Wednesday – I almost had a collision with Kirt 5th hour today.  Boy did that ever surprise me!!  ************
3/25/54	Thursday - I worked all morning.  I went to Grandma’s with Walter [#9] and Elaine [#3].  We had a lot of people to see Walter [#9] tonight.
3/26/54	Friday – I had a test in Science.  Boy was it hard.  Tom [Dad’s friend] came up for a while.
3/27/54	Saturday – I worked on my dress and slip and finished them.  I worked almost all day.
3/28/54	Sunday – I was over to Carolyn’s [cousin] all afternoon.  Dot [Dorothea, neighbor] knows what class my boyfriend is in.
3/29/54	Monday – Kirt likes another girl now.  I saw him in the halls with her.  I said the Gettysburg Address in History - got excellent.
3/30/54	Tuesday – Kirt likes Sharon and she likes him.  4-H achievement today.  I got stage fright.
3/31/54	Wednesday – I wore my 4-H dress to school.  A lot of kids liked it.  ********
4/1/54	Thursday - I had some fun in school today.  I got Mom’s present and lost $2 in my billfold.
4/2/54	Friday – Mom’s birthday today.  I got her a slip.  Uncle Albert’s came up and Julius’s [uncle] came over for a party.
4/3/54	Saturday – Albert [cousin] is going to join the Army.  He came over today.  I went over to Carolyn’s [cousin] all afternoon.
4/4/54	Sunday – Carolyn [cousin] and I went to the clubhouse (playhouse in front yard) and cleaned it up.  Uncle Albert went home today.
4/5/54	Monday – Back to school again.  Carol was sorta mad at me for slipping her billfold out of her pocketbook.
4/6/54	Tuesday – Fire drill.  We had a movie in Science.  Going home on the bus, I saw Kirt when I looked out of the window!!!
4/7/54	Wednesday – It has been so lonely since Kirt has not been to school.  I have been looking for him all day.  I saw him last night.
4/8/54	Thursday –  We had assembly today.  I have been having a lot of fun lately.  I went outdoors for the first time.
4/9/54	Friday –  Kirt came back to school after missing two days.  ******  Sharron was Mr. Frank today.
4/10/54	Saturday –  District festival this morning.  I had so much work to do this afternoon.
4/23/54	Friday – I haven’t been watching for Kirt anymore.  I guess I just don’t care much.  I got A in history test today.
4/24/54	Saturday –  I cleaned out my room today and worked most of the morning.  Did a little work this afternoon and watched TV.
4/25/54	Sunday – I couldn’t go over to the club meeting today so I went to Carolyn’s [cousin].  Don’t take much interest in Kirt.
4/26/54	Monday – Had fun with Bob in history today.  Bill wasn’t in school either.  Report cards tomorrow.
4/27/54	Tuesday – I got ABBB on my report card.  We have to plan what to take in school next year.
4/28/54	Wednesday – Julius’s [cousin] birthday.  Not much happened.  I had a little fun though.
4/29/54	Thursday –  In English I am studying spelling with Linda Tossey and Lynn Rayle.  Boy, did we have fun.
4/30/54	Friday –  I followed Kirt and Lynn almost down to grandma’s.  Went to high school for the concert.
5/1/54	Saturday –  Worked all morning and hoed all afternoon.  A very sad day this has been.💧💧
5/2/54	Sunday – I worked all morning and went to the clubhouse all afternoon.  Ohh, Ohh.  Uncle Ferd’s and Uncle Julius’s came over.
5/3/54	Monday – Nothing unusual happened today.  Kirt and Bill weren’t to school.  I think Sharron has her mind off him.
5/4/54	Tuesday – Kirt wasn’t here today.  Strange but I don’t miss him much anymore.
5/5/54	Wednesday – My birthday.  I’m not having a party tonight.  Had ice cream to eat.  No school tomorrow.

5/14/54	Friday –  I went to school today.  Boy do I have a lot of homework to do.
5/15/54	Saturday – Went out hoeing.  Took cows to the swamp (walk them down the road 5 miles to grazing land by a swamp).  My calf went too.
5/16/54	Sunday – Put calves outdoors.  I went fishing.  I caught a hornade with no horns.
5/17/54	Monday – Spelling Bee 1st hour.  Dorothea [neighbor] and Carol are going to be on the big bee.
5/18/54	Tuesday – I had my ears tested today.  I didn’t feel very good at night.  We put fertilizer around trees.
5/19/54	Wednesday – I got sick in school.  Mom and Dad picked me up at noon and took me to the Doctor.  P shot and sulfur pills.
5/20/54	Thursday –  Sick.  Liquid diet.
5/21/54	Friday –  Sick.  I was up all day.
5/22/54	Saturday –  I went down to Grandma’s all day.  I took Marty [cousin] to the show and he caught the measles.
5/23/54	Sunday – We dehorned cattle.  My calf was all blood.  I got three baby sparrows for Science.
5/24/54	Monday – I took the sparrows to school.  What a time I had.  I ran out of worms so all of the Science classes fed them.
5/25/54	Tuesday – Just one of the days when nothing happens, I guess.  Mom & Dad went to Canada.
5/26/54	Wednesday – Mom & Dad are coming home early tomorrow morning.  Laura’s staying with the kids.
5/27/54	Thursday – Had a Fudge down in Science.  I am on Bill’s side and we are ahead.
5/28/54	Friday –  Got an A on English exam.  Lynn Rayle and I got highest marks in all classes, 125 out of 127.
5/29/54	Saturday – I worked all day in the house and didn’t have to do any hoeing.  Getting more interested now.
5/30/54	Sunday – Went to Julius’s [uncle] this morning.  Went to cemetery and peninsula this noon.  Tom [Dad’s friend] came out and played pinochle.
5/31/54	Monday – No school today because of Declaration Day.  I got a permanent.  We just played around house.
6/1/54	Tuesday – We started oral Glee Club exams.  It rained all day and was just an awful day.  Fudge down in Science.
6/2/54	Wednesday – Kirt asked me a question in Fudge down and I got the wrong answer.  We had fun in English.  Got B in History test.
6/3/54	Thursday – We had our last Science down and we lost by one point.  It was tied to the end.  Had fun in English.
6/4/54	Friday – I took care of kids while Mom and Dad went to Canada.  What a time I had.  Carolyn [cousin] came over.
6/5/54	Saturday – All the kids were home today.  I really had my hands full.  Aunt Clara has tomorrow off.
6/6/54	Sunday – Mom & Dad came home from Canada this morning.  I went over to Carolyn’s [cousin] this afternoon.
6/7/54	Monday – Back to school again to review for exams.  I took fudge to Science class.  I didn’t have to take test.
6/8/54	Tuesday – Had a Science exam with 209 questions.  Carol, Dorothea [neighbor] & I went downtown all afternoon.
6/9/54	Wednesday – I took History, English & Arithmetic exams today.  Went downtown with Carol & Dot [Dorothea, neighbor] again.
6/10/54	Thursday – Bus picnic.  We went to Interlocken.  I went swimming for first time this year.  We had fun.
6/11/54	Friday –  Last day of school.  We picked up report cards this noon.  Yay! Yay!!
6/12/54	Saturday –  Went out and hoed this morning.  Had a picnic with Carolyn [cousin] & Elaine [#3].
6/13/54	Sunday – We went to Joe Lada’s [relative] place all afternoon.  Carolyn [cousin] went to Aunt Dorothy’s for a week.
6/14/54	Monday – We planted corn all day by hand.  Cows from Canada didn’t come like expected.
6/15/54	Tuesday – Planted corn all day.
6/20/54	Sunday – Father’s Day.  We went looking for mower.  I got Dad a jar of candy.  Cold day - rainy.
6/21/54	Monday – 4-H Camp.  It was raining all day.  I am in the beginners class in swimming.
6/22/54	Tuesday – 4-H Camp.  Swimming 4 times a day.  We don’t have a counselor this year.
7/9/54	Friday – Cherry Festival.  We went to the big parade.  Hauled hay the rest of the day.
7/10/54	Saturday – Hauled hay all day over to the other barn.  Got in 513 bales in all.
7/11/54	Sunday – It rained mostly all day.  We made some houses in the barn.  Couldn’t haul in hay.
7/12/54	Monday – We hauled in a little hay.  It rained at night.  Picked cherries.
7/13/54	Tuesday – Rained all day today.  Nothing much happened.
7/14/54	Wednesday – Hauled in hay over to other barn and here.  4-H picnic Outdoor Meals
7/15/54	Thursday –  Picked cherries all day.
7/16/54	Friday – Livestock Toppers 4-H meeting.  Nice ride in convertible.  Hauled in hay.
7/17/54	Saturday –  Picked Cherries in morning.  Hauled in hay in afternoon.  Went to Aunt Mildred’s Baby Shower.  Saw Kirt.
7/18/54	Sunday – Picked some cherries. Brought a cow from pasture.  Went to Julius’s [uncle] all afternoon.
7/19/54	Monday – Picked cherries all day.  Can hardly wait till school starts.
7/20/54	Tuesday – Picked cherries all day.
7/21/54	Wednesday – Picked cherries all day.  We’re on Windsors [type of cherry] now.
7/22/54	Thursday –  Picked cherries all day.  Got eight lugs!  8.00 Dollars a lug.
7/23/54	Friday – Picked cherries all day.  Got through hauling hay last week.
7/24/54	Saturday – Picked cherries in morning.  Cleaned house all afternoon.
7/25/54	Sunday – Hoed in garden all morning.  Went swimming all afternoon with Julius’s [uncle].

7/27/54	Tuesday – Picked cherries all day.
7/28/54	Wednesday – Picked cherries all day.  Had 4-H meeting at night.  We went to Long Lake for picnic.  Some fun.
7/29/54	Thursday – Picked cherries all day.  Took cherries to town with Daddy.  Watched television.
7/30/54	Friday – Picked 5 lugs of cherries.  Finished sweets.  Started to rain and had to quit.  Went to Julius’s [uncle].
7/31/54	Saturday – Didn’t pick all day because it was too wet.  Went to town and bought a blouse.
8/7/54	Saturday –  Laura’s wedding.  Hoed all morning.  Picked raspberries.
8/8/54	Sunday – Went swimming at the bay.  Had fun diving off an old log there.
8/9/54	Monday – Hoed in orchard most of the morning and afternoon.  Watched some television.
8/10/54	Tuesday – Hoed most of day.  Finished orchard by woods.
8/11/54	Wednesday – Shocked grain all afternoon while Dad and Gary [brother] cut with binder.  4-H picnic.
8/12/54	Thursday – Shocked grain all day.
8/13/54	Friday – Shocked grain all day.  Got half of the field done.
8/14/54	Saturday – Got other half of the field done this morning.  Went to town in the afternoon.
8/27/54	Friday –  I led my calf for first time.  Went picking pickles for Uncle Julius.  Dorothea [neighbor] and Bonnie [neighbor] came over and we went selling cards.  We sold three boxes.
8/28/54	Saturday –  I went downtown with Dorothea [neighbor] and [neighbor] and Carolyn [cousin].  I bought some saddle shoes and a notebook for school.  We played Chinese poker with Grandmas.
8/29/54	Sunday – We are going swimming this afternoon.  4-H meeting at our place tonight.  We are getting things ready for the fair.
8/30/54	Monday – Only 10 more days till school starts.  I can hardly wait.  We took our things to the fair this afternoon.  We went to bed early because of the fair.
8/31/54	Tuesday – Went to fair just a little while in the afternoon and morning.  I washed my calf for tomorrow’s judging.
9/1/54	Wednesday – Judging day at the fair.  I won 2 firsts on my calf.  I was out in the ring about 10 times.  Altogether, we made 101 dollars.
9/2/54	Thursday – I went around with Ricky and Carolyn [cousin] mostly.  We led our calves around the ring in afternoon.  I like two boys down here – Paul Gates & Larry.
9/3/54	Friday – I had to stay home to take care of kids while Mom went to the fair.  Gary [brother] has been sick all week so I have to take care of his calf.
9/4/54	Saturday – Paul and some boys started teasing me.  I had fun all morning.  In the afternoon I took care of kids at Grandma’s.  Darn Gary [brother].
9/5/54	Sunday – Brought rest of cows home this morning.  Aunt Edith & Uncle Albert came for picnic.  I didn’t see Paul or Larry when we went for cows at the fair.
9/6/54	Monday – A.E [Aunt Edith] & U.A. [Uncle Albert] were here all morning.  They left this afternoon.  The kids go to school tomorrow.
9/7/54	Tuesday – Worked most of the day.  Watched television at night.
9/8/54	Wednesday – I went over to Julius’s [uncle] this afternoon.  We’ve been picking peaches all week.
9/9/54	Thursday – School starts!  I got on the wrong bus.  I am taking Algebra, English, S.H., -, Civics, Spanish and History.
9/10/54	Friday – School again.  I am so glad school has come.  I think I will like it pretty well.
9/11/54	Saturday – Carolyn [cousin], Mary Lu [sister] and I went to town to get them some glasses.  We picked peaches in the morn. & afternoon.
9/12/54	Sunday – Watched television at night.  Didn’t do much else.
9/13/54	Monday – I got my schedule changed so I take S.H. [Study Hall?] instead of Science.  Had quite a bit of fun.
9/14/54	Tuesday – Kirt is in 2 of my classes and Bob is in 3.  I ate lunch with Carol [neighbor] and Dorothea [neighbor].  Had a test in His [History].
9/17/54	Friday – We had a test in Algebra.  I got a B+.
9/18/54	Saturday – I watched kids while Mom & Dad picked peaches.  What a time!
9/19/54	Sunday – Took care of kids all morning.  Didn’t do nothing in the afternoon.  Carolyn’s [cousin] birthday party at night.  Horrible!
9/20/54	Monday – Had an assembly 5th hour.  I saw Kirt lots today.  I had a dream about Martha McDonald with Bob.
9/21/54	Tuesday – I sit by Lynn in Algebra now.  I got A- in His. Test.  Kirt sat staring at me in Spanish.  Ohh!  Was that awful.
9/22/54	Wednesday – Had an Assembly 1st period.  Was raining most of the day.  Had gym inside.  Had History test over.  Got 2 higher.
9/23/54	Thursday – I put the History marks on the board.  Our group is on top.  The bus is certainly loaded.
9/24/54	Friday – Had pep assembly in the morning.  I got sick in civics and went home.  I slept all afternoon.
9/25/54	Saturday – I went to the fair.  Kirt and Lynn were down.  I saw Kirt two times.  Uncle Albert’s came up for dinner.
9/26/54	Sunday – Carolyn [cousin] and I went to Dorothea’s [neighbor] birthday party.  We had grape and watermelon at Peach Creek.
9/30/54	Thursday – I read most of the morning.  Went to Julius’s [uncle] a while this noon.
10/6/54	Wednesday – I stayed with Carol R [neighbor] last night.  Were up til midnight.  Carol R [neighbor], Dot [Dorothea, neighbor], Carol C and I go around together pretty much now.
10/7/54	Thursday – Carol C was sick in school.  Was only one in English class to get A on test.
10/8/54	Friday – Had fun in Civics because Kirt was there and no one sat between him and me.  Got a B- on an Algebra test.
10/9/54	Saturday – I worked all morning and part of afternoon.  Went to Julius’s [uncle] for an hour.  Got book report written.
10/10/54	Sunday – I slept till 8:30.  Went out and played football a while.
1/17/55	Monday – Mom won $25 in a contest.  She also won a lace tablecloth at a Stanley Party.
1/18/55	Tuesday – Kids grabbed letter from me.  Said I liked Kirt & Lynn.  Not speaking to Wayne.  We ride bus 2 ??
1/19/55	Wednesday – Dentist appointment at 8:30.  Assembly 6th hour.  History exam 7th hour.
1/20/55	Thursday – Got 4 A’s in different classes.  Got teased on the bus.  Was my lucky day.
1/21/55	Friday – Got A in Civics.  Just think, next week comes exams.  Had a lot of fun with Jim.
1/22/55	Saturday – I took care of kids all day.  Tom [uncle] came over and we played cards.
1/23/55	Sunday – I went to Julius’s [uncle] in the afternoon for an hour.  Washed my hair in morn – turned out bad.
1/24/55	Monday – Sorta mad today.  Carolyn [cousin], Julius [cousin] & Donald [cousin] came over for 4-H tonight.
1/25/55	Tuesday – Just Think!  I don’t have to take the Span. Exam.  I pulled George Drew’s chair out from under him.  Ha Ha
3/5/55	Saturday – The kids tried to get diary back.  I am making a mummy for history.
6/5/55	Monday – We studied for exams in all classes.
6/6/55	Tuesday – Took Algebra & English Exams.  Corrected papers with Bob.
6/7/55	Wednesday – Had Exams in Civics & History.  Didn’t have to take Spanish one.  Corrected papers with Bob & others.
6/8/55	Thursday – Bus picnic.  Was a horrible day except for 1 second.  I saw Bob.  Boys are just horrible, horrible things.
6/9/55	Friday – Was the last day of school.  I wish it was Sept. so I could go to school again.  Bob drove to school in his Dad’s truck.
7/13/55	Wednesday – Picked cherries and hauled hay all day.  Gary [#2], Elaine [#3], Frank [#6] & I are in cherry festival parade.
7/14/55	Thursday – Children’s Parade – Quite a few people there.  Felt sort of scared anyway.  Went to circus afternoon.
7/15/55	Friday – Big Parade.  More people than I ever saw before.  Carolyn [cousin], Vivian [cousin] & I went to carnival.
7/23/55	Saturday – Vivian [cousin] had an attack of appendicitis & was taken to hospital.  Picked cherries all day.
7/25/55	Monday – Sue Patterson from Iowa arrived at Twin Lakes.  Went swimming with Dad and to a free show.
7/26/55	Tuesday – Sue and I were both sick all day.  We want to show The Seven Little Foys with Aunt Clara.
7/27/55	Wednesday – Went to Cherry Growers & Peninsula, ate dinner at Twin Lakes, went to Sand Dunes & Lund’s Garden.
7/28/55	Thursday – Went to Mackinaw Island with 4-H kids.  7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.  TV Station at 8:30 to see Bundy Mt. Boys.
7/29/55	Friday – Picked cherries all day and went swimming.  Square Dance at Gilbert Lodge.  I danced with Dave Bell.  Wow!
7/30/55	Saturday – Shocked grain and unloaded hay until 2:30 PM.  Went to Gerry’s wedding till 1:30 AM.  Horrible!!
7/31/55	Sunday – Went on a picnic & swimming at Long Lake.  Went to concert at Interlocken.  Packed Sue’s things.
8/1/55	Monday – We got up at 5 AM and saw Sue off at 6 AM.  John Wagenkenect wanted to kiss me goodbye.  Ha Ha.  I didn’t go to free show.
8/2/55	Tuesday – Hauled in hay and shocked oats all day.
8/3/55	Wednesday – Lili Lautner died today.  She had a stroke.
8/4/55	Thursday – Threshed to Uncle Julius’s [uncle].  Canned corn and made pickles.
8/5/55	Friday – Threshed to our place.  Had 13 men here.  What a job.  Served Dinner and Supper.
8/6/55	Saturday – Canned more corn and pickles.  Went swimming at night in Bay.  Dug up old log for d.b.
8/7/55	Sunday – Went to extension picnic.  Had fun with Larry and Dick Baynton playing ball.
8/8/55	Monday – Canned corn all day.  Went to free show at night.  A bunch of boys sat right behind us.
8/9/55	Tuesday – Dorothea [neighbor], Bonnie [neighbor], Carolyn [cousin] and I went downtown and went to 2 shows.  I bought shoes & notebook.
8/10/55	Wednesday – I went and hoed all morning.
8/11/55	Thursday – I painted all morning on playhouse.
8/14/55	Sunday – Aunt Edith & Uncle Joe up.  Came to our place with Grandma & Grandpa.
8/29/55	Monday – Took things to fair.  What a day.  Sure glad that’s over with.  Everything I did was wrong.
8/30/55	Tuesday – 1st day of fair.  We judged 4-H cows 9:00 A.M.  Hardly time to get them ready.  Rode on dive bomber with Jimmy.  Learned how to milk a cow.
8/31/55	Wednesday – Big day.  Open class judging.  I got 2 seconds.  I went on dive bomber with Jim Balesh.
9/1/55	Thursday – I stayed home and took care of kids while Mom went to the fair.
9/2/55	Friday – Went to fair.  Paul Buss tried to flirt but I showed him where he got off.
9/3/55	Saturday – Dorothea [neighbor], Bonnie [neighbor], Carolyn [cousin] and I went to fair.  Spent three dollars.  Last day of fair.
9/4/55	Sunday – Worked a little and played a little.
9/5/55	Monday – Picked peaches all morning.  Took a bath and washed my hair in the afternoon.
9/6/55	Tuesday – Carolyn [cousin] and I went downtown.  I saw Jim on the street.  He said Hi.
9/7/55	Wednesday – Got ready for school most of the day.
9/8/55	Thursday – School and good-by Bob.  Got to really study this year.  Hope to get all A’s. Wonderful day of the year.
